Hi.

I'm Norwegian planning on traveling to Madagascar in February/March 2009 for kiting. I've look at a couple of article on this site, and also some comments on this forum.

I'm still left with a couple of questions though. I've look at windfinder.com for statistics, but they seem to bee somewhat bogus. Where I can find information about windstatistics for Madagascar?

What area of the island is preferred? I've seen spots in the North mention a lot

Mer d’Emauralde

On kitebeaches.com Sakalava Bay is mentioned. There also mentioned that Feruary/March is hurricane season, and “no-go” Is this valid for the entire island?  What about south, is this an alternative for this time of the year?

Traveling in Madagascar seem to be and challenge, from what I've read in the articles/form. Is there any easy access, or every travel an adventure?

Have a look at the kitesurf trip story that I wrote on the main forum of this site.

February March is not a good season to travel to Madagascar. It will rain extensively.

Best season is from June to November in the North (Baie de Sakalava) and September in the South East (Forth Dauphin) and June to October in South West (Tulear).

If you want to travel cheap you need lots of time and patience.

If you have money you can hire a 4x4 or fly easily with Air Madagascar (you can get up to 40 % reduction on inlands flights if you arrive with Air Madagascar from Europe)

Explore Madagascar and you will never forget it.
