Hi there
Thanks everyone. Truly appreciate the stoke.
The day on the mile was epic. Hennie Bredenkamp (Sjoukje's dad) was the first person to break 40 knots on the Nautical mile on production Naish Stealth sails and a Fanatic board. He was holding in first place for the day until Bjorn Dunkerbeck (legend) came out on full custom gear and waxed a perfect run of 41 kts! The course was then immediately colsed, so he couldn't get back out on the water, next time. BUT, Hennie was the first to break the 40 knot barrier, so big respect goes out to him!
In the Women's Nautical Mile, Maaike Kallenborn from Saldanha, produced a Production World record too, also on Production Naish Stealth sails and a stock F2 missle.
So Saldanha Bay has produced;
1. Women's Kite 500m World Record - Sjoukje
2. Men's Production Nautical Mile World Record (sailboard) - Hennie
3. Women's Production Nautical Mile World Record (sailboard) - Maaike
4. Men's Kite Nautical Mile World Record - Rob
Awesome stuff!
Add Olaf's 500m Kite World Record to the pile, and South Africa is dominating!
More racing today with strong winds, so let's see what we can do. More news to follow and a full article with pics. I had my camera and laptop stolen, so it is internet cafes right now, so I can only get online when there is no wind.....
Cheers from a very sunny and windy Walvis Bay, where time stopped....
