Paul is a legend ........... and believe me the prices he charges are not that excessive at all . In fact most times it is cheaper to for us to send the repairs to Paul in CT than have them repaired at the loft in Durban . Keep up the good work bro ...........

Yes Paul does do great work, but the change in policy for drop-offs is a MAJOR inconvenience and additional cost for us South Peninsula kiters. Secondly, I would love to know the percentage "markup" or Handling fee" that the Kite Retailers are charging. Nobody denies Paul the right to make a good income, but competition will dictate the future of his buisness.

1. duh... if you don't ask questions u are either a sucker, or you are loaded (with a lot of time on your hands to blindly just take your car/kite/whatever to anyone for service at any price)
Most normal people try and get the best service for the best possible price (applies to anything).  Am I the only one to dare question > 100% price hike in 1 year?  and to dare say >100% increase in turn-around is a major inconvenience ?

2. So lets see, the cost of postage doubles in 1 year, but takes twice as long to deliver the mail..  (Same quality workmanship and service) Are you ok with that too?  (unless you are are the occasional kiter, loaded, and only make bold statments when you know your buddies will agree with you)

Note: this isn't a personal diss at paul, his workmanship is undisputable, but this is a discussion to try and understand the why.. how...etc

oh, and the comment  "If you cant do the time don’t do the crime " wrt dropping a kite , honestly dude, its probably the doffest line i have ever read associated to kiting...

·        General opinion is Paul is the best and to allow him time to work the drop of thing is the only way.

 

If this is not acceptable to you thats fine then go somewhere else.

 

·        The price increase is valid the majority of replies don’t seem to have a problem with this.

 

If you can’t afford Paul’s prices then go somewhere else it’s that simple, Waggy gave an option.

Paul recently did a repair for me on my Cabrinha Crossbow 2007. (rather flimsy if you ask me)   Charged R550, bargain.  

I am living in Whitstable, U.K.  Most probably heard about the place, north Kent coast, lovely, old, etc.   I took my ripped windsurfing sail to Whitstable Windsurfing shop recently for a rip, rather small I must add.   They charged me £40 for shipping to some remote company (probably in India), then another £100 for the repair.  Needless to say, I the sail is lying in my shed, forgotten. 

Next time I go out to Cape Town, I will take this sail for repairs to Paul.

I've been going back and forth to Cape Town now for the last 13 Years.  The problem out there is if things cost more than in the U.K., which it does sometimes.  I think that Paul can take his skills anywhere...

I saw a 2nd wind price list at one of the kite shops in Cape Town during December that had the repair cost of a kite ripped through for just over R1000???? Is this correct? If so, then Paul’s prices increased from R350 to R1000 in 3 months i.e. he's lost my repairs... What does he use......gold stitching???
He's a nice guy and his work is of the highest quality, no doubt, but that’s just out of my range.
