Hey Kimmi
Welcome to the forums! As far as wetsuits are concerned, you simply can't go wrong with the Quiksilver / Roxy suits - they make awesome products for the ladies.
When it comes to kites and kiteboards, there are a few things you have to keep in mind.
Ladies are generally smaller than guys, and as a result they weigh less and have smaller feet etc. So when you go out and buy gear, keep this in mind.
Board sizes : Guys could easily get away with bigger boards, but to make your life easier I would start out on a board that is narrower and shorter (about 120-125cm in length).
If you are based in CT where the stronger winds prevail, you could easily kite all year long with a 7 or 8 square meter bow kite.
If you buy a board that is too big you will have difficulty controlling it, and if you buy a kite that is too big you will have difficulty riding comfortably as you will be picked up and be overpowered most of the time.
In terms of type of kite : bow kites are easier to start out on, C shape kites are more specialised and less forgiving in terms of depower.
Hope this info helps.
