    New wetsuit

Its about that time again when i need a new wetsuit, my current one (billabong solution 2007) has now got so many wholes, tears and rips the water is getting way to cold for me. I know i can get it repaired but i think itll look like a patch work suit after it and still not be that nice to use. I trying to keep it under R2000 as I don't really want to spend huge amounts on something that i seem to go though rather quickly.

I had a couple of ideas on what i should be getting and want to know if anyone else had an idea or current shops that are having specials on their wetsuits.

    Hi Chucky

Would sugest that you visit the various shops personaly, I doubt if you will get the best price on a public forum.

Come and talk to us and have a look at the latest Billabong and Reef suits.

    Re: New wetsuit

Sorry, not really looking for the best deal for a wetsuit, just would like some ideas on what I should consider. Had a quick look today at some surf shops and thought got a few ideas.

    Reef Ignition

Always liked reef, had 2 in the past but always find they are half a step behind other wetsuits. They are however really well priced and last forever, my first wetsuit (which i got about 13 years ago) still going strong and my younger cousin still uses it.

    Deveko Omega
New to me, think they been out for about a year so not sure on build and comfort. They didn't have the omega but they had the evolution, tried it on was ok couldnt say anything special about it nether could the sales men.

I looked at some kitesurfing/windsurfing wetsuits but most seem to have that rudder down the arms which would not work for surfing and i think might be a bit hot for summer where its 30 out the water but still 13 in the water.

If anyone has some ideas for me would be great, as much as i can go into a shop and try it on i cant go out and take it for a season, so cant really tell how good they are

    Hey Chucky,

A brand you should consider is the Quicksilver Cell.

I beleive the latest models have had problems with bad workmanship. The stitching and rubber bits coming loose. I have an older model (2007 i think). I never feel the cold and it has good flex.

Not sure what the suits made of, but it's a winner (in my humble opinion!!)

I see you are in the tableview area, i bought mine from the sport and surf factory shop in Diep River. Bought it brand new in 2008 (so it was a year old - 2007), paid R1000 i think. If the suit has a minor defect (mine was creased!!) it's sold off really cheap.

But definitely a suit worth looking at.

"sport and surf factory shop in Diep River"

Hey Dawie, where's this place? Directions/contact?

My Reef suits also lasted forever, but always chafed the neck when surfing. Probably the best bet for kiting though - cheap, durable and no balloon legs.

My Cell didn't last long mainly due to kiting - material tears at the wrists and ankles. Also the pullover neck thing tears off. Billabongs don't last either. Best bet is probably a Oneil Psycho for surfing and a Reef for kiting, but that'll break my bank.

    Cheers

    Re: New wetsuit

I agree with the neck thing on the cell. Its a waste of time and i broke mine off. Makes no difference. But never had any trouble with the suit otherwise. But like i said, the later models did have trouble. The whole rubber thing on suits is kief, until it starts crumbling!! My cell has no rubber and it works well.

A suit for surfing and a suit for Kiting would be first prize, but the bank wouldnt be happy! Good luck!

    Sport n Surf directions:

It's in the Southern Suburbs, if you take the m3 towards muizenburg you take the Kendal Road turnoff (and then left . Right would take you to Constantia Village).
Go down that road all the way to the Main road. At the robots turn left (on your right will be a park with swings and round about etc...). Its in the complex with Meltz on your right.

    Cheers
