    Kenya?

Anyone been kiting in Kenya? I am looking to go to the Malindi area in July. Are there waves and any other info would be welcome.

    Re: Kenya?

Mombasa - went there for work about 5 years ago before I started kiting. There was already a kite and windsurf centre at the Nyali Beach hotel and the kitesurfing scene was healthy. Mostly British tourists on kite holidays. That particular spot had a reef protecting a lagoon, so you had a choice of flat water or waves at the reef further out. Fantastic. www.prosurfkenya.com
The weather is great, the water is warm and there is wind. Enjoy.

The Malindi/Watamu area is great for kiting. There is a long beach and the wind is good at this time of the year. Check with the guys at the Watamu Kite School for more info http://www.kitewatamu.com.

Also a great spot a bit further north is the Che Shale resort (http://www.cheshale.com).

All these spots have flat sections on the inside (great at low tide), and a reef-break about 500m on the outside (not Mauritius-style waves unfortunately), wind is cross-onshore to side-shore from the right.

    Cheers
